6/18/12 Chucking Down Rain!

Hey there!  Yep, it has been raining quite a lot these past few weeks.  We'll get an ok day every now and then, but now it seems to be raining a lot.  The rivers and streams are quite full and there has been some flooding up north of us by Aberystwyth.  But it's all fun anyways (: And we officially are moving flats next month, around the 7th of July.  One of the members has a flat that they have been trying to rent out for a while and it is only about 4 miles outside of Newcastle Emlyn in a village called Waungilwen (Wine-gill-wen).  It is bigger than our flat now and the members have a lot of lawns and garden space (they call yards gardens here, so pretty much any land around your house is your garden).  It'll be much quieter there and hopefully we'll be able to travel a lot less since the bulk of the members live around Newcastle Emlyn.  We're excited, but I'll miss Cardigan too. Next week is transfers, so I won't email on Monday and...

Jammy = Lucky!

Hey there!  Oh man, it sure is exciting to have so many emails to read, especially since I didn't have time to write last week.  So I'm just going to print them off and read them later so that I have more time to write.  (:  And I hope you got my handwritten letter that I sent. Yeah, the Queen's Jubilee was a pretty big deal to some.  There were a lot of tea parties and such.  'Tea' often means dinner or pudding (dessert) parties.  So the members invite us over for tea quite often.   The ward had an old fashioned street party, which took place in the church car park, but they played games from the 50's and we had spam sandwiches and sausage rolls and the members brought cakes (cup cakes).  It was pretty fun and we had some nonmembers turn up, so that was awesome!  The month of June is invitational month = the members are highly encouraged to invite people to church whether they be nonmembers or less actives.  The les...

Howdy ho!  Yeah, this week has been HOT!  I got sunburned, have some attractive tan lines and I am loving it!  Sis.Benson drove us to Birmingham on Thursday and it was 84 degrees! Add on the humidity and it was quite warm.  The Elders were dying in there suits. Ha ha!  We gave our district leader and his companion a ride so it was like a 4 hour drive to Birmingham so we left at 7:15am and didn't get home till 10pm.  It was along day, but really good.  Elder Jensen was awesome and it was a good boost.  Yeah, we did see Jo and Brandon again, well, just Jo.  She has MS and is in a wheel chair, but she invited us in and we had a really good discussion.  Oh man, they are so ready for the gospel!  We tried to set an appointment, but she doesn't make appointments because her health is so up and down - that seems to be the case with loads of people.  But Sis. Benson and I have decided that maybe we'll just start showing up at t...

Hey hey hey!  Oh boy, the weather is getting better and better!  I only wore my coat about once this week and today I'm being bold enough to be out in short sleeves! Everyone comments on how tan I am and last night I had some members believing that I was half Mexican. Ha ha! But next time I need to tell them that my mom is the Mexican, because LeFevre isn't a very Spanish last name.  But I did get the boots last Wednesday and they are awesome! It is amazing the difference they make and they are especially nice for when we walk down muddy and wet roads.  Thank you SO much!  But now that it is getting warmer, I might not need them as much. Ha ha!  They'll still come in good use though.  We still haven't been able to go back and visit Brandon and Jo, but if our appointments fall through tonight we'll go pay them a visit.  If an appointment falls through we call it flogged.  So if Debbie (a less-active) cancels tonight we'll say that ...

Hello!  It is a warm and sunny day in Wales (: I almost want to go knocking on doors just because it is so nice out there.  It's been getting warmer and I've adjusted better so I'm not completely freezing.  Yesterday was sunny, but the wind was blowing, so it was actually freezing.  Yesterday was a good day.  We went to go follow up on a potential we met in Croesyllan, a lady named Jo who has MS and is in a wheel chair.  We went to her house and met her partner outside cleaning the car.  He said she wasn't feeling good today, so we talked to him and it was awesome!  His name is Brandon and has just recently (within the last 6 years) turned his life around and has turned to the scriptures to become a better person. We pretty much taught him the Restoration and we left him with a BoM and a chapter in 3 N to read.  He seemed so prepared for us and I can hardly wait to see him again. Transfers are today, but Sister Benson and I get 6 more...

Good Morning!  My Welsh is coming along quite nicely. Ha ha! Maybe I'll learn how to say goodnight this coming week.  But they typically say Ta da or ta ra for goodbye, so I'll save that for the end of my email (:    This week was grand! I really love personal study time because I learn so much. To be honest, I've been having a hard time really loving missionary work, becuase it is exactly work. But I've had some really good learning experiences during my study time and I'm trying to be a better missionary everyday.  I know that the Lord loves this cold place and with His help I can learn to really love it as well (:  So I'm happy and doing great!    Today is a bank holiday (May day) and everything is closed so I only have a few minutes to email from a member's home.  We taught Aled yesterday and yes, he does pray and read the Book of Mormon everyday, but we discovered that he doesn't believe in the Atonement. Ha ha!  It was a...
