Lovely Days 5/6/13

Image
Hey hey hey!  It has been beautiful in England!  I think I've only worn my jacket once all week.  Except Saturday morning on our way to an appointment it started pouring and we only had one umbrella to share.  We got slightly drenched, but Sis.Vance and I just laughed about it all.  (: This week had it's highs and lows.  Andrew is over the moon!  That guy is so happy and just bouncing around everytime we see him.  He's so funny too!  We took the Elders with us on Friday to teach him about the priesthood.  He didn't really get it, but hey we had a lot of fun.  He pretty much gave us a tour of his house and he has all of these funny figurines and things.  He brought down 3 stuffed animals that represent me, Elder Choi, and Elder Tapia. Then he turned all the lights on in his garden and we went down to show the Elders. It was seriously like the garden straight out of Gnomio and Juliet.  Ha ha!   Andrew...

Andrew Got Baptised!! 4/29/13

So a week ago I didn't have much faith that Andrew would be able to make his baptismal date because he still hadn't given up the smoking and to be honest I was a bit frustrated with the man.  But last Monday we took the assistants teaching with us and we got it all sorted.  He quit smoking and we saw him everyday last week. The baptism was poorly attended since there was a big wedding going on in Harborne that half the ward went to.  But we did have about 20 people and it really was a lovely service.  Andrew gets along really well with Elder Tapia, so he baptised him.  And afterwards when Andrew came back in to the chapel he had such a happy smile on his face.  I've never seen him smile and laugh so much as he did this week.  Then yesterday he showed up to church wearing a 3 piece suit with a big grin on his face.  The confirmation was awesome and when I called him up last night to check on him he was giggling like a little boy on the pho...

Strange Things are Happening! 4/22/13

Man! We had a really good week full of humbling, learning, and miracles. But now it's all going to change. President called us last night and asked if he could come over at 8pm and talk to us.  We were actually quite excited because the First Presidency has just come out with something called Sister Trainer Leaders.  I don't know all the details, but now there's going to be leadership among the sisters, kind of like district and zone leaders.  And we know President and the assistatnts have been working on it. So we thought he was coming over to talk to us about that. Nope! We're having an emergency transfer. There are two sisters going home. I have no idea why all of this is happening, but Sis.Hanks will be leaving tomorrow morning to serve in Rhiwbina (Cardiff) with Sis.Turnbow and I will be getting Sis.Vance who came in last week from the MTC.  So I'll be training again, even though Sis.Hanks and I haven't finished her 12 week program yet. After P...

Loving Wylde Green 4/15/13

Hey! Man this has been a wild week, but the Lord has blessed us soooo much!  On Tuesday and Wednesday we were helping out a lot with transfers. We had sisters whose companions went home stay with us and then we got another set of sister's mini-missionary for the rest of the week. And we'll just say she's a very interesting one.  But then the day after transfers I got sick for another two days.  It was just a stomach flu.  I suppose it was good that we have Sister Shiels with us because she and Sister Hanks were able to go out to some appointments while I hung out with Sister Paice in the office. We honestly haven't done much work this week, but miraculously we have a load of potential investigators and this next week is going to be packed.  I'm not sure how we're going to get around to see everyone.  As for Sheista, we have not been able to get in contact with her all week.  Her phone doesn't work and no one is home.  She must have b...
