Another Christmas!

Image
I have now lived to celebrate 21 birthdays and I must admit that this one wasn't the most exciting holiday I've seen. The majority of it has consisted of watching Christmas movies and making food. Marc and I have played a countless number of rounds of King's Court with me winning 4 out of 5. Ha ha! It's a good thing Marc doesn't give up easily. It snowed on Thursday and Friday. Dad and I went to the temple on Thursday and we only spun off the road once, so it wasn't too bad. Ha ha! But on Friday when it started to warm up, Marc and I built this snowman. Marc only rolled the first two balls and stacked them then I did all the rest. I was hoping to make a snowman like the one off the movie "The Snowman," but it didn't quite work out that way. Michelle came out just for the picture (: And apparently we have an annual tradition of cleaning the house on Christmas eve? Well, it was news to me. Must have been a 1st annual thing. Ha ha! So I ...

Cooking it up!

Lately I have really been into cooking. I guess it started this summer when I was home and had lots of time to cook. I discovered that it is really fun to try a new recipe and see if it works. As Mom and Dad know, not all of my attempts were total successes, but some turned out pretty good. The week before I came to school I finally faced my fear of yeast and learned how to make bread. Now yeast is pretty much my best friend and I make bread all of the time. Yesterday my roommate Katie and I went to a cookbook party. It was kind of like a Mary Kay party. The ladies who made the cook book were there and they gave us tips in cooking and actually made us lunch from recipes in the book - it was SO good! These two ladies made the cook book pretty much for college age kids - kids starting families. Their main purpose is to encourage family dinners and stuff, so the recipes are pretty simple, but super good. They used a lot of your staple ingredients that most people already have in ...

Back In School

I am just finishing my first week of my second semester at BYU-Idaho and everything is going great! To start off, my roommates are great! Four of us are 20 yrs old, one 21 yr old, and a 19 yr old. We all get along really well and we're already good friends. We have roommate prayer every night at 10:30pm and we're all in bed between then and 11pm. I think it's pretty awesome. It's easy to get enough sleep every night. But we sure laugh a lot and just have a good time (: As for the ward, I've only been to church once and I already love the ward. It's one of those wards that people like so much that they stay for several semesters making the members close. Everybody knows and loves Marc. It seems like everyone also already knows who I am. I just say I'm Marc's sister and I am automatically cool. Ha ha! I've already made friends with a bunch of girls and a good number of the guys. Marc's roommates are really funny, so I'm almost a reg...

Karen hates this picture, but I like it (: This was at Clear Creek last weekend. Good times!

The Best Day of my Summer (:

So I realize I haven't written for a while and that is mostly due to the lack of excitement in my life. Ha ha! I have been home two and a half months and I have that much longer before I go back to school. Unfortunately this summer hasn't gone the way I had hoped. I kind of got dumped the first week I was back, and since then I have been trying to move on - which has been very difficult for me. But I am finally beginning to get it over it. I don't feel hurt as much anymore, but I'mstill a little mad about it. Anyways, this past Saturday (the 2nd) was my favorite day since I have been home. I started off my day by riding my bike down to Subway where I met Karen and we had breakfast together. Then we got doughnuts from Wilbur's and sat on a bench across from Bride's gas station and ate them while waving to people we knew. It was just so much fun! I have never had my own bike before - always just bummed off my sibling's bikes. So it felt like I was finally catc...

Back in March, I used my birthday money to upgrade my ukulele. And I bought this nice red one. Ha ha! It is a lot better quality than my old one. The good news is that not only did I get an upgrade, but everyone did. Ha ha! Michelle gets my old one and hers is actually at the dump now, but Porter got to play with it while he was here. But it is so good to be home! I've been here about a week and a 1/2 and I am loving it! It is so wonderful to not have any homework to worry about. Last week was pretty crazy with Elise, Porter, and Marc all here. But not that they are gone I've been working on cleaning up the house and running errands for mom. I've already been given a calling in the ward, they sure don't wait long. Ha ha! I will be teaching sunday school again. I get to teach Michelle's class, the 15-18 yr olds. I am really excited, because I loved teaching up in Idaho. Sunday school has always been way boring and I never get much out of it, but when I teach...

A few eye lashes short :/

Image
This morning as I was cleaning my eyelash curler. During the process I took out the rubber bottom piece and cleaned it off, but when I tried to put it back in I guess I didn't quite get in right. When I next applied the device to my eye lashes, I heard a clean snip. I quickly unclamped my eye lashes to reveal that I had snipped off half of my eye lashes! I looked at the other eye lid that I had done just before to realize that I had taken out a chunk on that eye as well! It took a lot of effort not to scream and burst into tears. Ha ha! You honestly can't really tell unless you are looking for it, but it still crippled my self-esteem a bit. I think I'll be wearing my glasses for the next few weeks. Ha ha! I am just grateful that eye lashes grow back and that eye lash curler is now in the trash. And if I get too desperate, I have a few pairs of fake eye lashes just in case. :)

Birthday fun!

This is the birthday card Mom sent me. Ha ha! It has a detachable "Perfect Pocket Guy." You can take the guy off the front and carry him in your pocket if you wish. I took him off and put him on the fridge. But the best part is that he talks. Ha ha! When you push the flowers, he has four different things he can say: "Aw forget about the game, lets just talk about us." " I couldn't decide between chocolates or flowers, so I brought you both" "Does somebody need a back rub?" "You lost weight didn't you?" Ha ha ha ha! It is quite funny. He's just a little creepy looking, so I'm thinking about putting a different face on him. But it was definitely one of the more entertaining cards I've ever received. Well, last night Marc invited me over for dinner. I was a little nervous, because he said some things earlier that had me nervous about what was going to happen at his place. But we got over there and all of his ro...

I headed to school this morning at 7:45am. I wasn't sure what the temperature was, but I realized it was in the negatives when I could feel my boogers freezing in my nose. I know it sounds gross, but you literally can feel your nose hairs become stiff as the moisture in your nose begins to freeze. It's quite the sensation. So I have my hood up to keep my ears and face warmer and there is a slight breeze, which makes it even colder! I had only been walking about 3 minutes when I noticed that the ends of my hair to my left was looking really white. As I looked closer, I realized that frost was collecting on my hair! I'm not quite sure why this happened. I had straightened my hair today, so it more dry than wet. The only thing I can think of, is that the moisture from my breath must have been collecting on the ends of my hair closest to my face. By the time I got to class I probably looked like a rendition of the White Witch with my frosted white hair. Oh the joys of Re...

These are three of my five roomates, Caralee Cheney, Karen Wilhelm, and Julianne Law. Both Caralee and Julianne are freshmen and the four of us get along really well. Caralee is basically the mom of the apartment. She is off-track right now, so she has plenty of time to keep the apartment clean and makes sure everyone obeys the honor-code. Ha ha! She is also the one who wants to get married the most. She's always looking at the wedding ring ads we get in the mail sometimes. Ha ha! Julianne is way awesome! She is real funny and nice. I think she and Karen are pretty similar. They both play basketball, the violin, and they both have chill personalities. My other two roomies are real petite girls that are always out every night until midnight. I'll talk about them more if they are ever around for me to catch a picture of them :)

Rexburg, Idaho

I must admit that I hated it when I first got here. I was sad to leave to comfort and familiarity of Provo. This was the 3rd time I've moved in a year, and each time it is just as sad as the last. I've realized that I am very much a people person. I love interacting with people, working with them, and I also get attached to them. So it is always painful to leave and start over. Now I have have finished my 4th week being here and I am coming to love BYU-Idaho. There is a different spirit here than at Provo. The kids here are so much more grateful to be here than those at Provo. I always took for granted what a wonderful blessing it was to be going to a church school. But the people here have made me realize just how truly blessed I am. I am loving my classes. I think the classes here actually require more from you than some at Provo. In most of my classes in the past, I would just show up in a big class room, take notes, take a test every few weeks, and maybe write ...
